Good evening everyone!
On Wednesday, November 28, 2018 the Rotary Club of Alexandria Central met at Glory Days in the Alexandria Commons Shopping center at 6:30 PM. The meeting was called to order by Club President John J. Renner. We started out by identifying what upcoming date we want to host our Club Membership Drive. We decided that the best date would be on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 6:30 PM. The event will take place at the Glory Days Restaurant in the Alexandria Commons Shopping Center. Following the membership drive discussion Club Secretary, Joan M. Renner, updated the club on the status of Rotary International District assistance with obtaining a Club Banner, Bell, Four Way Test Banner, Name Tags, and several other items necessary for the club. Our District Governor announced that we will receive the necessary funding to obtain the above club items. As a club, we voted on the production of the retractable club banners. After this Club Member Lacy Parker suggested that our club invite police officers from Alexandria and Arlington City Police Departments to come and present on what they do for our communities. We then opened up the floor to Paul Kentes to give a report on the March 8, 2019 Sips for Saints fundraiser that he is chairing. In his presentation he talked about the completion of the event’s webpage, approaching potential business and restaurant sponsors, assigned several responsibilities to club members and event marketing. We concluded our meeting by circling back to the member engagement discussion and we identified many avenues for our club to engage our community by giving back. Our next meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, 6:30 PM, at Glory Days in Alexandria Commons Shopping Center. The club meeting will be led by Joan Renner.
